Vertical bandsaw metal
A vertical bandsaw for metal is an indispensable machine in locksmith's shops, in mechanical workshops and in most hobby cellars of ambitious do-it-yourselfers. With a vertical bandsaw, various materials can be sawn quickly and precisely. Due to the large machine table, these saws allow the production of workpieces with straight or curved contours. In the BHM Maschinen Onlineshop we offer you a large selection of powerful and robust vertical bandsaws suitable for your requirements.

Frequently asked questions about the vertical bandsaw for metal
What materials can be sawn with a vertical bandsaw for metal?
With good vertical bandsaws you can process practically all materials that can be sawn. This includes workpieces made of steel and iron, non-ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal. But plastics, wood and wood materials can also be sawn with these machines. It is important that the right saw blade is always used for sawing different materials. It is possible to saw wood and plastics with a metal saw blade, but the result and the sawing speed are not optimal.
For what kind of work are metal vertical bandsaws suitable?
With a vertical bandsaw it is possible to make long and short, straight saw cuts, but also wide curved as well as tight curved cuts depending on the width of the saw band. For example, it is possible to saw out circular sheets of metal with a vertical bandsaw. But also the splitting of large metal sheets into smaller sheets is possible with a vertical bandsaw without much effort.
Are the saw blades for a vertical bandsaw ready-made?
No, as a rule the saw blades for a vertical bandsaw are not ready-made. Almost every machine requires an endless saw blade with a different length. Therefore, saw blades for vertical bandsaws are usually supplied by the metre. A well-equipped vertical band saw, such as the Bernardo VMS 1000 saw, is equipped with a welding and annealing device for making up bandsaw blades.
Why does a saw band for metal vertical bandsaws have to be annealed after welding?
During welding, the seam in the saw band is heated to a very high temperature. As the seam cools, this area becomes brittle. Annealing ensures that the weld becomes soft and flexible again, so that the saw band does not break when it is deflected over the machine's drive rollers.
Do we use a lubricant/coolant when working with a vertical bandsaw metal?
Sawing with vertical bandsaws is practically always done dry, regardless of the material being sawn. This means that no cooling lubricant is added. Depending on the material, however, a lubricant from a spray can or a dosing bottle can be applied directly in the cutting area to increase the service life of the saw blade. This should be done very sparingly, however, as the lubricant can bind chips that can then stick to the drive rollers for the saw blade and damage the rubber coating.
Can vertical bandsaws be repaired if necessary?
All vertical band saws from the BHM Maschinen online shop are solidly constructed and designed for a long service life. If, however, a repair should be necessary, this is usually not a problem and is quickly done thanks to the good supply of spare parts. The supply of spare parts for our machines is guaranteed for many years to come.
